22 August expedition "the immortal March pankratovcev", dedicated to the memory of the heroes of sacrifice. This is a joint project of the Committee for the preservation of the memory of the heroes of heroism and self-sacrifice, the OFFICERS of Russia "and the Charity Fund" the whole together.

Aleksandr Konstantinovich Pankratov made the first in the history of the great patriotic war feat self-sacrifice in August 1941 in the battle for the defence of Novgoroda. Base for heavy fighting became Kirillov monastery. High monastic buildings served as a convenient point for adjustment of fire on the positions of the Red Army. On the night of 24 to 25 August 125 Panzer Regiment took a sneaky attack on the monastery, but the German side was ready for it.
